Lisa and Todd Lusk were kind enough to host the Rotary Club of Rosemount’s 2012 holiday celebration on Thursday, Dec. 6. More than 20 Rotarians, their spouses and children gathered in the Lusk household to socialize and wrap gifts for the family the club adopted through 360 Communities Armful of Love program.
According to 360 Communities website, Armful of Love matches families in need with donors, turning the holidays into a profound opportunity for the community to connect with families through gifts, toys and hope. Armful of Love also provides resources to families in need that help pave a way to self-sustained success. In 2011, 360 Communities successfully matched 878 families with sponsors. The need had grown in 2012, which is why Rotary Club of Rosemount once again got involved.
This year, the Rotary Club of Rosemount’s Armful of Love family included mom, dad, two boys and two girls. Rosemount Rotarians Lisa Lusk, Laura Briggs and Erin Edlund banded together just hours before the holiday gathering to brave the terrors of holiday shopping in search of gifts that would be appropriate for this family of six. After conducting a number of random focus groups with similarly aged children found in the toy and clothing sections of the local Target, the three women successfully procured a set of towels and a $200 Cub gift card for mom; a zip-up hooded sweatshirt for dad; and jeans, a shirt, a hoodie and two toys for each of the four children.
Back at the Lusk home, the Rotarians gathered with lots of merriment and an assortment of appetizers that seemed to predominantly feature dates and tortilla chips as key ingredients. The group lovingly wrapped each of the presents, sending with each gift well wishes for a blessed and prosperous new year for the family.
